Congresswoman Pramila Japayal's June 11 press conference in Seattle, where she announced the upcoming introduction of her State-Based Universal Health Care Act, was a resounding success. She shared the podium with members of city and state government as well as our own program director Bevin McLeod, along with representatives from the labor, health care, health care activist, and medical provider communities. The event was covered by a wide array of media representatives, including Rich Smith from the Stranger and KUOW.

Additionally, we are very pleased to announce that Congresswoman Jayapal has officially endorsed us!

A Beautiful Evening at Tutta Bella

We had a beautiful evening at the Tutta Bella in Issaquah. The election in the 8th Congressional District is attracting national attention. People across the nation will be watching this seat in the US House of Representatives on November 6, since it will be one of the last elections reported in the country.

Attendees discussed their concerns about the healthcare crisis with legislative candidates Dr. Kim Schrier and Bill Grassie, along with representatives from Dr. Shannon Hader's and Jason Rittereiser's campaigns. Healthcare advocates and most of the candidates in this district shared their opinions about helping our country move to universal healthcare coverage to catch up with the rest of the world.

The manager of Tutta Bella Issaquah, Marco Nocco, put his team together to host our discussions. The owner of Tutta Bella, Joe Fugere, joined us and provided strong support for working toward health care for all Washingtonians. We extend our sincere thanks for Tutta Bella's help with and their generous donation of a portion of the proceeds from food sales for this event.
